Benny’s Bar-B-Q was established in 1961 by Grandpa Bennie. He first opened
Benny’s Inner-city Bar-B-Q on 24 Highway and by 1966 Grandpa Bennie owned
five restaurants: Benny’s Driftwood Bar-B-Q on 40 Highway, and Benny’s Bar-B-
Q in Raytown, North Kansas City and Waldo. Benny’s Bar-B-Q closed in 1986.
Reopened in May 2009, the new Benny’s Bar-B-Q is back with Grandpa Bennie’s
recipes for sauce, beans, ribs and coleslaw. The menu has been updated with
the addition of Pulled Pork , Boar Chips and Bull Chips. Benny’s prides itself on
great prices and fast service. Family owned and run it is a great place for
family dining in a casual atmosphere.
